If you are the type of person who loves to share milestones with a big announcement, Facebook is now making it a lot more fun to do so. You have always had the ability to share your life events but were limited to little more than a small post with an icon. For most, that just didn’t seem to capture the magnitude of moments such as engagements or new editions to the family. Because of this Facebook started discussions about redesigning the Life Events feature.
Today Facebook revealed the updated changes that it has put into place. Life Events will now have their own dedicated section making it easier for friends and family to share in that milestone with you. If you prefer to keep your memories and special moments private you can easily hide your Life Events with a single tap. Facebook is also considering an additional feature which will notify users when a friend posts a life event such as a change in relationship status or change in occupation.
With the new update, users can now incorporate photos, videos and more. If you don’t have a picture to use, Facebook provides an illustration gallery that you can browse and pick relevant photos from. Your videos and photos will also have subtle animation capabilities such as slow motion zooming in order to give your personal event a more cinematic appeal. The overall goal is to allow these monumental moments to stand out from your ordinary everyday posts.
The updates will begin rolling out today to all iOS, Android and desktop users.
