Looking for affordable smart thermostats? Ecobee has launched a new Wi-Fi enabled thermostat for $169.
Ecobee3 Lite does not compromise on features, maintaining the design and specs found on its flagship product, the Ecobee 3. It has an easy-to-use touchscreen interface and integrates well with Amazon Echo, Apple HomeKit and Samsung SmartThings.
“The new Ecobee3 Lite delivers the many features of a premium smart thermostat – beautiful design, superior comfort and an intuitive customer experience – but it’s kinder to our customers’ wallets than leading competitors,” said Stuart Lombard, President and CEO of Ecobee.
The smart thermostat will be available for purchase in the U.S. from October 31 at Home Depot stores and online at Amazon, Home Depot and Best Buy.
Compatible with most residential heating and cooling systems, Ecobee says its products will help consumers control their home comfort any time, while reducing energy use.
“Ease of use, stunning design, interoperability and category-leading savings were our top priorities while developing Ecobee3 Lite, and we’re excited for consumers to experience these benefits at a better value than ever before,” said Casey McKinnon, Vice President of Product at Ecobee.
Ecobee claims to be the first company to have developed a WiFi smart thermostat, which it released in 2007. Besides being the first to develop a thermostat with room sensors, it also led the way to smart home integrations with Apple HomeKit and Amazon Echo.
Along with Ecobee3 Lite, the company is also launching a new mobile application for iOS and Android, to help homeowners with installation and support.
