BlackBerry’s mid-range smartphone, the Priv that launched in 2015, is up for grabs for $349 in the US. That is a discount of close to $150, considering the retail price of $499.
The Priv has an elegant design with slide out physical keyboard and comes with a 5.4-inch AMOLED dual-curved screen. It is BlackBerry’s first Android device and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor.
On the official store, BlackBerry has noted that the Priv won’t be compatible on Verizon, Sprint and U.S. Cellular. The discount also applies to other key markets, including Canada, UK and other parts of Europe.
The price drop on the BlackBerry store comes just days after the device was sold on eBay for $280. It also was heavily discounted on other popular ecommerce platforms, including Amazon where it was listed with a price tag of $339.
The GSM model will include a 3GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage and non-removable 3,410 mAh battery. For optics, you have a 18MP rear camera with optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash and 4K video recording at 30fps. There is also a 2MP front camera for selfies.
If Priv seems outdated, BlackBerry has other new smartphones launched since January up it’s sleeve. During the Mobile World Congress in February, the Canadian company also unveiled the KEYone, with a touch display and a physical keyboard.
The KEYone retails for $549 and packs a 4.5-inch display with an aluminum frame and textured backing. The device runs Android 7.1 and is powered by a 2GHz octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, paired with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage (expandable up to 2TB).
