Asus X00KD spotted with dual camera setup and 4,020mAh battery

While dual-camera setups are being a common-place in the world of premium mid-range phones nowadays, it has been a feature that many believe to be restricted right from that budget-segment. Asus begs to differ, having introduced a handset with a dual-camera setup in the entry level segment, called the X00KD.

The smartphone has most of the bare necessities in place, ensuring that the main USP of the phone is focused on the camera configuration alone. There is nothing notable about the phone as an entry-level offering in terms of internals since it comes with a 1.25GHz quad-core MediaTekCPU and options of 2GB/3GB of RAM with 16GB/32GB of internal storage and up to 2TB of expandable storage. The device unofficially came to be known to the world when it was spotted on the TENAA certification agency of China.

GSM Arena reports that the X00KD will feature a 5-inch HD screen and Android 7.0 Nougat. Of course, the chances of whether this version of the software will get any updates from Google is quite slim, what buyers will appreciate is that the phone comes with a massive 4,020mAh battery, which, considering the meagre specs, should probably be able to power the phone for a good two-day stretch comfortably. The phone also seems to come with a fingerprint sensor on the front. Looks-wise, the phone looks fairly uninspired and carries forward the iPhone-like rounded corners and generic design tropes that most entry-level segment phones are known for.

Now, the star of the show is the dual-camera set up on the back. The phone will feature a combination of a 13MP as well as an 8MP sensor. On the front, the phone will feature a 5MP selfie camera. For the capabilities of the phone’s camera, it can be expected to take some great quality photos to induce rich depth backgrounds and great portrait shots. For an entry-level, this phone will be a great deal for these kinds of specs. Official photo samples have not come out just yet, but as with all dual-camera configurations, there should not be much to complain about it.

In terms of performance, we should not expect much, but Android Nougat should keep the phone running fairly smoothly. While the name of the device listed on TENAA was the X00KD, the official name of the phone for release might be something else entirely. Pricing and availability are unavailable as of now, but the phone should be available to the masses within the next month or so.
