The folks over at Asus have gone ahead with the latest trend of defying the extent of what laptops are capable of and have made a new n – a VR-ready gaming beast.

A 17.3-inches of screen real estate, graphics aided by a GTC 1080 GPU, an overclockable Intel Core i7-6820HK processor, up to 64GB of memory and SSD storage make up the system. It comes in two different variants, with their only difference between them being the RAM and storage.
One of the USPs, apart from the already stellar specs, is that the system offers the world’s first wide-viewing 120Hz display with G-Sync. This will ensure that all games on it will function super smooth and with the 1080 under the hood, we’re pretty sure the framerate won’t go anywhere under 60fps. It’s good, because the display panel is a Full HD panel, which means that the hardware can push those pixels quite easily compared to a 4K panel.
The laptop is big and also looks like what we’re used to seeing from other of Asus’s ROG systems. It’s slim for a system that packs the best GPU money can buy today, and doesn’t hold back on the ergonomics too. It’s got a built-in subwoofer and speakers, for great sound along with two USB Type-C ports (one for Thunderbolt 3) and three USB 3.0 ports. The laptop also comes with an Ethernet connector, and HDMI port as well as a Mini DisplayPort.
This system could probably be one of the best laptop gaming solutions out there today, since it’s portable enough and packs the right amount of luggage to qualify for being an insane workstation too. The fact that it’s one of the first laptops to bring in 120Hz picture quality that a lot of new laptops will soon be coming with as standard, coupled with a processor that can boost up to a clockspeed of 4.1GHz, makes this a force to be reckoned with. No more tearing screens anymore during gameplay!
It’s obviously not a cheap prospect to look at. In fact, it’s one of the more expensive systems on offer right now for this kind of performance. It’ll start at $3,099, with added costs, depending on the memory and storage configurations. The most expensive model costs $700 more, so people should think about that before they buy. It’s a good thing that the cost difference doesn’t count a change in the processor or the GPU, so thumbs up to Asus! But even on the base config, it’s more than enough for power users to satisfy their needs.
