Asus will be soon launching a mid-range smartphone dubbed ZenFone Zoom S. The device will hit the Indonesian market on May 16.
The Android device, bearing model number ZE553KL, was rumored for days. Asus has not crafted an entirely new device as reports state the ZenFone Zoom S is the same ZenFone 3 Zoom that launched in February, 2017.
Though it looks like Asus has just given a new name, that might not be entirely true. Sources claim Asus will fit the device with a smaller screen, possibly a 5.2-inch screen instead of the 5.5-inch display seen on ZenFone 3 Zoom.
The screen will have full HD display with Gorilla Glass 5 and will be powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor. Under the hood, it will also contain a 4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB storage.
ZenFone Zoom S will be equipped with two 12MP Sony sensors on the rear with f/1.7 aperture and a wide angle of view. A 13MP front camera is fitted for selfies. The device will draw its power from a 5,000 mAh battery.
It is unlikely that the device will ship with latest Nougat OS. Rumors speculate the Zoom S will operate on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
Details on the pricing are slim at the moment. When the ZenFone 3 Zoom launched, it came at CNY 3,699 ($536). We are just days away from the release and details of pricing should emerge then.
