Not one, but six smartphones were released by Asus today. The ZenFone 4 series devices were launched at the We Love Photo event in Taipei, Taiwan.
The six new devices – ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 Max and Zenfone 4 Max Pro – are designed to target the mobile photography enthusiasts out there. “With the ZenFone series, we have always been committed to enabling the best mobile photography experiences,” Asus Chairman Jonney Shih in a press statement.
Shih is not kidding, the ZenFone 4 series come with dual cameras and impressive optical zoom and relevant features. In ZenFone 4, you have a 12MP + 8MP dual rear camera setup. The 12MP Sony IMX362 image sensor features f/1.8 aperture, while the 8MP sensor offers a 120-degree wide-angle lens.
On ZenFone 4 Pro, you have a 12MP + 16MP lens at the back. While the 12MP sensor offers f/1.7 aperture, on 16MP sensor you have features like 2X optical zoom and a 10X total zoom. The cameras are powered by Asus’ SuperPixel Engine.
Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie series come with dual front-facing cameras with wide-angle lens and app for beautification and other customizations. To be more precise, users will find a 20MP + 8MP camera with Softlight LED flash. There’s also a 16MP rear camera with phase-detection autofocus.
On ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro you have a Sony IMX362 dual-pixel image sensor on the front that can capture 2X brighter low-light selfies. Additionally, it boasts a 24MP DuoPixel lens and 5MP 120-degree wide-angle lens.
Not to forget the ZenFone 4 Max and ZenFone 4 Max Pro. While the former is equipped with a 13MP + 5MP rear camera with wide angle lens and 8MP frontshooter, the latter sports a 16MP + 5MP rear camera with wide angle lens and 16MP frontshooter.
As impressive as the optics department is the other hardware featured on the ZenFone 4 series devices. Starting with ZenFone 4, you have a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and Snapdragon 660 that powers the device. The device is backed by a decent 3300mAh battery.
Coming to the ZenFone 4 Pro, you will find a 5.5-inch full-HD AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Underneath, there is the Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with Adreno 540 GPU and 6GB RAM.
The ZenFone 4 Selfie has 5.5-inch IPS HD display along with a Snapdragon 430 chipset. The processor is coupled with a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage (expandable up to 2TB). The phone will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.
The bigger variant of the ZenFone 4 Selfie, the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro, will feature a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display and will run on Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4 GB RAM and 64GB storage. The device as well will be equipped with a 3,000 mAh battery.
On ZenFone 4 Max, Asus has fitted a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with Snapdragon 425 or 430 processor. There is a 4GB RAM as well as 64GB storage. The battery is the largest in the series at 5,000 mAh. The ZenFone Max Pro is identical in display and processor, except that it has a smaller RAM at 3GB and storage at 32GB.
