Archos has been fairly under-the-radar brand with not many people knowing about the company or their range of phones. The French company is now going to give the public something to remember about, as they are about to release four new smartphones to European markets. The phones look good and have great specifications to boot and will be sure to bring the fight to the mid-range stalwarts in the continent.
Archos Diamond Alpha
One of the more impressive phones in the line-up, the Archos Diamond Alpha aims to be a decent and cheap dual-camera phone. The phone will come with a 5.2-inch display with a 1080p display. It will feature the tried and tested Snapdragon 652 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone’s main USP will be the dual-camera setup on the back that will feature 13MP Sony IMX286 sensors, ensuring that the image quality is top of the line. One of the cameras will be an RGB sensor while the other will be a monochrome one. The front camera is even more impressive, packing 16MP and support for 4K video recording as well. Other features of the phone include a fingerprint scanner on the back. The phone looks eerily similar to the nubia Z17 mini, which it in fact is, but just slightly rebranded. Nevertheless, the offering is quite tempting and is sure to make waves in the European market, especially it costs only 299 Euros.
Archos Sense 55S
A phone that looks very similar to the Xiaomi Mi Miix, it’s also got the same bezels as the Xiaomi offering. It won’t be as expensive as the Miix, however, costing only about 249 Euros, it’s got budget specifications also, that make for a great buy for the kind of design that the phone is sporting. The screen is a 1080p panel that measures at 5.5-inches. The screen-to-body-ratio is 78 percent, which is not as exciting as the Xiaomi Miix’s 84 percent. This phone also comes with a dual 8MP camera on the back accompanied by a fingerprint scanner. The phone just features 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
Archos Diamond Gamma
This phone is one of the more affordable picks of the lot. It comes with a 5.5-inch 720p display and the Snapdragon 435. It comes with 3GB of memory with 32GB of storage. There is also no microSD card for storage expansion unfortunately. The body is full aluminium with a neat black finish and a thickness of 8mm. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the front which also doubles as the phone’s home button. This design has also been featured by the nubia M2 Lite, which was launched back in March. This phone will cost 199 Euros.
Archos Sense 50X
Archos have also created something for the rough and tough user with the Sense 50X that has IP68 certification. On the inside, it has a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor that is paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. On the front is a display that measures at 5-inches and has an HD resolution powered by a 3,000mAh battery. But it’s not what’s on the inside that matters. People will be buying the phone for its rugged look that allows for the phone to be dropped from up to 1 meter and can resist submersion inside water for 30 minutes. The phone can also be stored in temperatures up to -20 degrees and above 50 degrees. This phone costs only 169 Euros.
