Apple iPhone SE to make a return late August with improved spec?

While it is almost certain that Apple will be launching three new iPhone models this year including the iPhone 8, the company reportedly will be launching a fourth phone this year and it might come earlier than the main three that are expected to arrive.

The new phone that is being rumored to launch before the iPhone 8, the 7s and the 7s Plus, is the new iPhone SE. The smaller iPhone of the latest generation to be available to the masses is almost as powerful as the 6s but in the body of the iPhone 5. Based on a customer survey, the iPhone SE leads the list of phones that are should get a refresh this year and Apple may just deliver on that request. Considering that Apple may be having two separate launch events spread out between August and September, the iPhone SE’s launch could happen in the former.

iPhone SE’s sales have not reflected the enthusiasm that has been shown towards the phone, which could have initially quashed ideas about refreshing the model. However, the phone is likely to launch at the end of August, based on a French website, iGeneration. The same report however, does not mention anything about the 7s or the 7s Plus. It may be possible that Apple could unveil just the new SE and the iPhone 8 and be done with it, but this year seems remarkably unlike Apple’s usual run, having to launch four phones at a time. This would not be such a great idea for the company as well, since with four launches could severely dilute the sales of the iPhone 8 – its flagship device for the year. The other three phones will still be upgrades to their predecessors but will also be cheaper than the iPhone 8, making them better propositions for buyers.

If there is any possibility that a new iPhone SE is in the works, it will have the latest internal specifications, being almost as powerful as the 7s at least. If it does eventually come out, the new iPhone SE could possibly be priced lower than the original was priced when it had first come out, in order to make the iPhone brand more accessible in poorer countries, which will make it good competition for those similarly priced smartphones such as the OnePlus 5. This is only a rumor, however, and nothing has yet been confirmed yet. Hence, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt.
