AMD has introduced a new series of graphics processors, the first used in the latest MacBook Pro that was launched on Thursday.
The Pro 400 Series Graphics includes Radeon Pro 450, the Radeon Pro 455, and the Radeon Pro 460
The Radeon Pro 400 Series Graphics is designed for multimedia artists, photographers, visualizers and filmmakers. The Polaris architecture in the Radeon Pro GPUs enables graphics and compute workloads to work efficiently together.
Built on 14nm FinFET, an advanced process technology, the Pro 400 Series operates under 35W and can easily deliver the most demanding tasks in popular creative applications, be it 3D modelling or 4K video editing.
“We couldn’t be more proud to have Radeon Pro 400 Series Graphics launching in the new 15-inch MacBook Pro, a notebook designed for performance and creativity,” said Raja Koduri, a senior vice president of AMD.
“Today there are millions of professional creators and designers, and a billion more who aspire to reach the next level. Radeon Pro 400 Series Graphics are a powerful and versatile creative technology that gives makers entirely new ways to create the art of the impossible no matter where they are,” Koduri added.
The Radeon Pro Graphics processor found on the MacBook Pro is thinner with a Z-height of only 1.5 mm. Also, the advanced power technology in the chip allows the MacBook Pro to remain cool and silent.
Along with the new series of energy efficient processors, AMD also launched a program to bring together creators to collaborate as well as learn new tools and techniques.
AMD said the program ‘Meet the Creators’ will “play a role in the creative process, from harnessing extraordinary graphics performance in today’s popular 2D and 3D creative applications, to using modern low-overhead graphics”.
