Video game streaming service Twitch has introduced an array of new features, in addition to making its platform ad-free for Amazon Prime subscribers. A new program called Twitch Prime was announced on Friday through which members can enjoy free same-day game delivery, access to one paid Twitch channel per month, digital games and other benefits.
The announcement was made at TwitchCon, a event for gamers and users of the Twitch platform, in San Diego.
“Offering subscriptions free through Prime saves money for viewers, while supporting streamers to build their community,” says Twitch CEO Emmett Shear. “Free games and in-game content are always a hit with gamers, but they also let developers reach millions of new potential players.”
Members will get free in-game loot every month, in addition to characters, vehicles, skins, and boosts for games like Hearthstone and Smite. Also included is ad-free viewing, exclusive emotes and chat badge and free channel subscription every 30 days. The service is currently enabled for Prime subscribers in the US, UK, Spain, Germany, France, Canada, and Italy.
“We wanted to give you something filled with lots of cool free stuff that would make Twitch fans happy. We wanted to make it like a secret level that unlocks the best parts of Twitch and the best parts of Amazon, where members would feel like total bosses. So that’s what we did,” writes Twitch’s Robin Fontaine.
Robin explains that when Twitch Prime members use their free channel subscription every month, the streamer gets paid just like any other subscription, so this introduces a new way to help support the streamers.

For those new to Amazon Prime, it is a membership program that offers multiple benefits to members, including free one-day or two-day delivery. Members can choose from over 20 million eligible items and get unlimited deliveries with no minimum order size.
Additionally, Prime membership also includes unlimited music streaming and instant access to thousands of movies and TV shows. Amazon Prime benefits vary by country. If you already have Amazon Prime, then you get Twitch Prime included at no additional cost.
