Alcatel has already released the Idol 5S smartphone for the world, but there was also another variant of the smartphone that the company had not yet released for some months. Finally, it has made its appearance upon certification from the FCC with its specifications and looks.
As far as the details are concerned, the phone will be unlike the Idol 5S, not having the front-facing speakers, or the glass casing. The LED of the rear camera is also located on the right side, instead of being located below the sensor. The phone will feature an aluminium back plate as well. Inside, the phone will feature the MediaTek MT6753V chipset, or otherwise known as the Helio P20 chipset which was also shown in the previous leaks of the phone. The processor will be coupled with 3GB of RAM and the optics will consist of a 12MP rear camera, but that is only speculation for now.
FCC have made the details of the smartphone available on its official website. The phone looks like a generic Chinese smartphone and also carries with it a fingerprint-sensor on the back. The phone will definitely be different than the 5S and a lot cheaper, considering the specifications of the phone for the Chinese market. There has not been any launch date announced, nor any information about the pricing of the smartphone however.
When it was first leaked out to the public, the Idol 5 was said to come with Android Nougat 7.0, which was quite a few months ago. Hopefully, owing to the delay in the release, the company has ensured that it releases with Android Nougat 7.1 out of the box. Whether the phone will also see a release to different parts of the world apart from is also highly doubtful as the smartphone maker is selective about which markets to release its phones.
Interestingly, not much hype has been given about a smartphone that has so many basic features. Whether the hype surrounding the phone has been worth it, can only be figured out when it officially releases.
