Alcatel will reportedly introduce a series of smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. One of them is tipped to be the Idol 5S. Thanks to a new benchmark listing, we can establish partial specifications to come.
The Idol 5S will succeed last year’s Idol 4 and Idol 4S. The Android device was spotted on Geekbench on February 10 with the model name “TCL Alcatel IDOL 5S”. Under the hood, the listing reveals the device will be powered by a MediaTek Helio P20 octa-core processor.
Besides the processor, we can also ascertain the operating system, which is Android 7.0 Nougat. The processor appears to be paired with a 3GB RAM. For now that is all we can confirm.
With regard to display, camera and battery, which are other crucial details readers would like to know, we can only make a wild guess comparing the last in the series which is Idol 4S. The display could be the same 5.5-inch AMOLED screen. However, you can hope for a better camera and battery setup, besides connectivity.
In Idol 4S, there was a 16MP camera (2.0 F Aperture) and dual-color LED Flash on the rear and 8MP front snapper inclusive of LED flash for selfies. There was a 3,000mAh Li-Polymer battery with Quick charge version 2.0 as well.
