Alcatel is soon expected to launch the Idol 5. The alleged device with model number Alcatel 6060 recently surfaced on GFXBench.
Just a month after it appeared on GFXBench, Idol 5 again has been spotted, this time on GeekBench, another popular benchmarking site. The listings reveal a 5.2-inch FHD (1920×1080p) display and 32GB storage. Earlier, the same device was spotted showing a Snapdragon 625 SoC paired with 3GB RAM.
Having said that a new benchmark listing suggests the device will have two variants, one targeting the US market.
The one for non-US markets will come equipped with a MediaTek Helio P20 processor, Mali-T880 graphics unit, paired with 2GB RAM. It is also rumored to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
These are just speculations and we can’t be sure of same unless we draw closer to release and an official launch.
Besides the processor and display, we also have details on the optics. The back camera is expected to be of 12MP, while for selfies there should be an 8MP sensor too.
The alleged Idol 5 will succeed the Idol 4 that was launched at the MWC 2016. The device was bundled with a VR headset that offered an immersive 360-degree multimedia experience.
Other key features included a 5.2-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB RAM and 16GB storage. For pictures there was a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front shooter.
The Idol 4 launched alongside the Idol 4S. It is likely that the successor will also see a bigger variant or just one for different markets.
