Acer Leap Ware is a $139 smart watch with good battery life and host of sensors

Acer’s new fitness smart watch is elegant in its design and comes loaded with features. The Leap Ware is clearly aimed at fitness enthusiasts who believe in variety and intelligent fitness solutions.

The smart fitness watch was announced at the Acer global press conference in New York, on Thursday. Talking of the design, the Leap Ware has a circular enclosure with polished stainless steel frame that is minimalistic in outlook. There are interchangeable bands as well that come in Navy Blue or Light Brown.

For an insight into the hardware, the smart watch is equipped with the MediaTek MT2523 chipset and MT2511 bio-sensing chip. It offers diverse fitness tracking features and can monitor heart rate, stamina, stress/fatigue levels, and exposure to ultraviolet rays.

Users will not need to worry of power as the Leap Ware boasts three to five days of battery life.

“The new Acer Leap Ware is designed to act as a virtual coach to help people go, track, and share, sending them reminders and alerts when they need them the most,” says MH Wang, a head of Acer’s Smart Devices Products division.

Acer discloses that the fitness watch was designed with durability in mind. It has a 42-mm (1.6-inch) face with Corning Gorilla Glass SR+, offering superior scratch resistance. It also has an IPX7 rating, allowing exposure to water up to 1 meter.

With the Liquid Life smartphone app, users can can keep a track of who is calling and even set daily fitness goals. All exercise sessions are recorded in the app and a friendly avatar gives users a snapshot of how they’re progressing.

Acer Leap Ware will be available in North America in July with prices starting at $139.
