Acer announces thinnest, thickest laptops, as well as convertible Chromebook

Acer just made three big moves in the laptop industry – it announced a laptop that’s thinner than a centimetre, a gaming laptop that will put any desktop rig to shame, and a Chromebook that wants to do Yoga.

Acer has taken the bold steps in literally providing the cutting edge of technology with its latest products announced today. The machines in question – the Chromebook R 13, the Swift 7 and Spin 7, and probably the best gaming laptop right now – the Predator 21X

The Spin 7 & Swift 7

These two ultra-books introduced by Acer are similar in specs, but have different builds. The Swift 7 is a proper traditional looking laptop, while the Spin 7 will feature a hinge to rotate the screen and other aerobic functionalities similar to Lenovo’s Yoga series. Both of these are premier models in their respective series and will feature Intel’s latest Kaby Lake processing chips.

The Spin 7 will come in an all-aluminium body, with up to 8GB RAM, storage via 256 SSD with two USB Type-C ports. Under the hood, it’ll feature Intel’s Core i7 processor that will power a 14-inch screen. The Swift will have similar specs, except it will come with an i5 processor and a 13.3-inch FHD screen.

The Chromebook R13 will feature a 360-degree hinge at the screen to allow for use as a tablet and a laptop whenever the need arises. Powering the Chromebook will be a quad-core Media-Tek quad-core processor, 4GB of RAM and a USB Type-C port along with USB 3.0. It will also feature a vibrant FHD screen with HDMI ports attached. It will come in 16, 32 and 64GB variants.

The processor on the Chromebook doesn’t seem to be the most promising, but we’ll let the product speak for itself once its released.

The Predator 21X

Acer went all out with this one. The Predator 21X features two GPUS – that’s two GTX 1080 GPUs and the world’s first curved screen on a laptop. The processor inside the Predator will also be Intel’s latest Core i7 which is a ‘K’ series and hasn’t even been released to the public yet. So it’ll pack a lot of processing power for the most demanding games. It’s an absolute giant of a laptop that has a large footprint and will feature five fans to keep everything inside cool.
