Lenovo are finally getting serious about gaming with their official gaming-branded series of notebooks and computers – Legion. As we have known the company’s Y series of laptops to be great performers, Lenovo has stuck to its roots in the newest Y920. Here are five the best features that the laptop has to offer.
The display
Lenovo has gone all out in the display department, with a 17-inch display at 1080p resolution couples with NVIDIA’s G-Sync with a refresh rate at 75Hz. The display is an IPS panel, and although the resolution might seem low for the enthusiast, it will serve for the best frame rates and the crispiest picture quality.
The internals
The Y920 is Lenovo’s boldest attempt yet to make a monster of a machine. And although it is no Razer Pro, it definitely comes close. Under the hood is packed an NVIDIA 1070 GPU, which should be more than enough to tear through any game out there right now, coupled with G-Sync. The Legion Y920 will come with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and with an SSD of 512GB along with a 1TB HDD. The laptop will come with an option of either the Intel Core i7-7700HQ or the Core i7-7820HK (which is Intel’s most powerful chip right now).
A neat little feature that Lenovo has added for users who buy the top-end i7-7820 variant, they will receive a Turbo Key added to the keyboard that will allow for a hassle-free overclocking experience, thanks to their Turbo Boost utility software package.
The keyboard
One of the few gaming keyboards out there to be a mechanical keyboard. There is also impressive RGB lighting for different zones of the keyboard should the user prefer having different lighting settings equipped for different games.
Great ports and audio
Lenovo has always maintained a consistent lead with audio equipment on all of its laptops, and the Y920 is no exception, coming with dual 2W JBL stereo speakers along with a 3W subwoofer. There are ports for everyone as well, with a Thunderbolt port, 4 USB 3.0 Type-A ports, an SD card reader, full size HDMI port, a DisplayPort and even a gigabit Ethernet port. Powering everything is a 90Wh battery.
VR Ready
Sporting the GTX 1070 has its perks. Not only will the gaming performance be on par with high-end PC-specifications, the computer will also be able to generate VR content, adding more of a library of games and software than standard gaming laptops out there.
