The macOs Sierra, which Apple released in June, is now available as a free update from the Mac App Store.
All Macs introduced since 2009 will be able to install the macOS Sierra, also known as macOS 10.12. Mac minis, Mac Pros, MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs from 2010 are eligible to upgrade.
The operating system introduces a slew of intelligent features, most notably introducing Siri and Apple Pay to the platform for the first time.
Features like Universal Clipboard, iCloud Desktop and Documents, Auto Unlock and Apple Pay work like a charm on the web. The Photos also get an update with a new Memories feature that curates automatically best of photos and videos.
Additionally, finding documents, sending messages and email, managing system preferences is much more convenient.
Sierra is the first to introduce Apple Pay, which attempts to enhance shopping experience. By clicking the Apple Pay button on Safari, users can checkout securely at nearly 300,000 participating websites. And no credit or debit information is shared with the merchants.
One of Mac’s most used feature is the Messages. Apple has added new features to it, allowing users to preview web links and play video clips with the app. You can also respond to messages with a Tapback or send bigger emojis.
What’s more? The Universal Clipboard allows users to copy content from an app on one Apple device and paste it into another app on a different device. With iCloud Desktop and Documents, users can now access the files on their desktop from iPhone and iPad. Apple has also added enhancements to Tabs, Picture and Apple Music.
