Nexus fans must wait till October 5 to find out if Google’s Pixel phones can be the new substitute.
The search giant has officially announced the date for the release of the much awaited Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.
The phones, powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC, will pack 4GB RAM and will run on Android 7.1 Nougat. According to latest benchmarks, the Pixel phone will have a 5-inch display and boast of 32GB internal memory
Google Pixel XL will be close but with better specs. It will have a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, come with Snapdragon 820/821 chipset and 32GB and 128GB storage options. The phone will be backed by a 3,450mAh battery.
Code-named ‘Sail-fish’ and ‘Marlin’, the devices manufactured by HTC, is expected to replace the Nexus brand, just as Google’s new Pixel tablet and high-end Pixel Chromebook.
The Android Police reports that the October 4 event will also see the launch of 4K Chromecast and the Google Home speaker. Google Home Speaker was first announced at the company’s annual I/O conference.
Rumours are swirling each day on the Pixel smartphones, with many claiming that this is Google’s first attempt at a more premium device to challenge Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy line-up.
Google’s event on October 4 will begin at 9:00AM Pacific Time and will be live streamed on Google’s YouTube page.
