Lenovo owners in India will delight over this news. The Chinese brand is now the second largest smartphone brand by volume.
Market research and analysis form International Data Corporation (IDC) has reckoned Lenovo’s market share surged to 9.1 per cent this quarter.
Going by IDC’s report, Lenovo is the second largest smartphone brand, ahead of Apple, Micromax and Oppo. Both Motorola and Lenovo had a growth of 24.5 per cent in 2015.
Thanks to Lenovo’s K5, ZUK Z1, Moto G4 Moto and Moto G Turbo models, Lenovo Group gained 7.7 per cent of market share by units sold.
During the ongoing IFA event in Berlin, Germany, Lenovo launched its new K series smartphones named as Lenovo K6, K6 Power and K6 Note.
All the three smartphones have unibody metal design and fingerprint scanner. The Lenovo K6 features a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS display, 1.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, 2 GB of RAM and a 3000 mAh battery.
Meanwhile, according to data from Counterpoint Research, Samsung took the No 1 position in the online market. The company increased its share of the online sales to 23.8% in the quarter ended June.
Lenovo stood at No 2 with 20.3% in online market in the April-June end quarter with sales of over 9 million smartphones.
