Xiaomi has always been known to be the picture of affordability in the smartphone space. The company has recently launched the new Redmi Note 5A that comes with decent specifications at decent quality and build, all at a very decent price.
The Redmi Note 5A will be emphasizing its camera module. It will come with a 5.5-inch 1280×720 resolution LCD, along with a 16MP camera on the front and the 13MP camera on the rear. The rear will also house a fingerprint sensor. Powering the smartphone is a 3,080mAh battery that should be enough to last through the whole day. The phone was launched at an event in Beijing. The company will be looking to cement itself as the budget-king over its competitors Oppo and Vivo.
The smartphone will feature dual-SIM capabilities and consists of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor. There are three variants of the device – one in 3GB and one 4GB with either 32GB or 64GB of storage. The third variant comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. All of the variants come with a microSD card support for expandability. The strengths of the Xiaomi Redmi 5A really lie in the pricing and the feature list.
Also, the phone will come with Android Nougat 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with MIUI 9 on top. The company CEO has revealed that the phone will be available starting August 21 and will be first available in China. While the Snapdragon 425 variant will cost 699 Yuan, the Snapdragon 435 variant with 3GB and 32GB is priced at 899 Yuan. The variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage will cost 1199 Yuan. With these many options on offer, Xiaomi is giving the power of choice for the budget consumer. The Redmi 5A ensures that the most essential features are made available to the average consumer at an affordable price. Xiaomi already occupies the fifth position in the global smartphone market.
Despite the budget offering, the phone is still well-built. All variants feature a unibody design. It was earlier unclear whether there would be only one variant of the phone launching, citing previous TENAA certification. While there are no outstanding features that will stand out in the phone apart from the camera, consumers will be interested in a reliable phone that will not break the bank. The smartphone will be available in Champagne Gold, Rose Gold and Platinum Silver color options.
