Xiaomi Mi Pad 3 goes official: Know the specs, features and price

Tab addicts can add Xiaomi’s latest Mi Pad 3 to the shopping list as the company just made it official.

Mi Pad 3 is the successor to last year’s Mi Pad 2

Successor of the Mi Pad 2, the new Mi Pad 3 has no surprises on the design, but comes with a beefier hardware setup under the hood. The tablet features a 7.9-inch Retina display (2048×1536) and is powered by a hexa-core MediaTek MT8176 processor.

The processor is paired with a 4GB RAM and 64GB non-expandable storage. On the optics front, you have a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1080p HD support, and 5MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The tablet runs MIUI 8 (will be based on Android Marshmallow).

For power, there is a 6,600 mAh battery. The Mi Pad 2 only had a 6,190 mAh battery inside. The bigger battery on the Mi Pad 3 takes the tablet’s weight to 322 grams. On that note, besides the battery, Mi Pad 2 also had a low end processor and smaller cameras at 8MP on rear and 5MP on front.

On the Mi Pad 3, connectivity options will include include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C, Bluetooth v4.1, and GPS. As for the price, the website has listed the tablet for CNY 1,499 ($217). For now there is only Champagne Gold to choose from. Hopefully soon we will know if there are more colors and storage versions coming.
