Say Hello To The New Sony PS5 Console

Sony Playstation 5

Sony has finally pulled the curtain back on it’s much anticipated PS5 console.

Previously there were many artists renderings and “leaked” development unit images that had the internet guessing as to what the final design would look like, but now we know for sure, and the PS5 is a beauty!

No, you can’t buy it yet, and pricing has not been officially announced, but expect units to be hitting shelves for the holiday season most likely in November or December.

This is the first time we’ve seen the final production version of the PS5 in the flesh, and needless to say it’s a sleek futuristic design that’s easy on the eyes.

While the standard PS5 features a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive, we were interested to note that Sony is also offering a “digital” version of the console without the drive for users who only plan to download their content online.

Exact details have not been announced as to whether this digital version will feature the same hardware as the standard version, but we assume that the price should be a bit lower on the digital version.

What’s under the hood? The PS5 technical details have been known for a little while now, but to rehash it a customer AMD Zen 2-based CPU with 8 cores at 3.5GHz and a 10.28 TFLOP custom RDNA 2 GPU that has 36 CUs at 2.23GHz. Yeah, you could say it’s FAST. As fast as current top of the line dedicated gaming PC’s.

For storage you’re treated to a custom 825GB SSD and 16GB GDDR6 memory with a streamlined system architecture that promises super speedy loading times. In fact, some developers commented it’s almost TOO fast!

As for accessories, we also got to see a whole matching line of peripherals to enhance your experience including the new Dual Sense controller, remote, camera, headphones, and more!

Now that we finally have a face to match with those impressive specs, we’re loving the artistic modern curves of the PS5. It almost looks like an alien spaceship ready to deliver us next-gen gaming and entertainment.

The only bad news is we still have to wait for the official release to finally get our hands on it!
