Samsung Galaxy S8 owners in South Korea receive Bixby assistant

When Samsung shipped the Galay S8, fans were disappointed it dint come with Bixby digital assistant installed. With a new update Samsung has now rolled out the feature for S8 owners in South Korea.

According to a ZDNet report, Samsung activated the service at 1pm KST on Monday. A notice was sent to users before the activation. Bixby will be available for both Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

Soon, the feature will be made available for those in the US and other parts of the world. Bixby is Samsung’s new virtual assistant that will answer questions, set reminders and does stuff that Siri and Google Assistant can.

The feature can be activated any time, even when the phone is locked, through a dedicated button. It can also be used with other apps completely through voice commands.

It was one of the big highlights on the Galaxy S8, when it was introduced. The flagship is the first high-end device to ship from Samsung after the Note7 debacle last year. Pre-orders for the device has reportedly been higher than expected, signalling good sales.
