Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 8 that it was supposed to unveil later in the month, has just been leaked, featuring what might be a disappointment to most buyers who are looking forward to owning the new device.
The photo has surfaced thanks to serial leakster Evan Blass, known for his timely and authentic leaks of devices. According to the image unveiled, as expected, the Note 8 will follow in the same design philosophy as the Samsung Galaxy S8, featuring the slim bezel design, rounded display corners and on-screen buttons. On the front of the device, the top of the phone also seems to be the same as was seen in the Galaxy S8 but also now includes the iris scanner setup composed of an infrared LED and one extra camera. The sides of the phone are still round on the front and the back and just like with S8, there is a dedicated Bixby button to force users into using it solely for activating Bixby.
From the image the display of the phone will be rather large, being stretched from edge to edge, accommodating the larger frame that the Note 8 is known for. The phone will also feature the company’s first dual-camera set up on the back, as hinted at by the image leaked.
The new S-Pen and the dual-camera setup are seen on the device. It has been speculated that the phone will be about 6.3-inches in height and will cost 999 Euros on launch. It also seems that the phone will pack the Snapdragon 835 or the Exynos 8895 chipset with a little extra RAM than the S8 and S8+ at 6GB. One particular feature that we have noticed from the image that might be a deal-breaker for fans, is the placement of the fingerprint scanner on the back, which is the same location as seen on the GS8. The placement is non-intuitive and users will accidentally place their finger on the dual-camera lenses instead.
Overall, the device looks squarer than the Galaxy S8, which is another differentiating factor between the two devices since the first Note came out. The double-camera set up on the back is also speculated to offer 3x optical zooming capabilities. While this seems as close to what the finish product is going to be, buyers will now have a better idea as to what to expect for the phone to look like when it is finally released on August 23.
