Polaroid’s digital instant camera Snap Touch up for pre-order for $180

Polaroid’s next generation instant camera, Snap Touch is now available for pre-order on the website.

Introduced at the Photokina 2016 in Cologne, Germany, the Polaroid Snap Touch comes with a 3.5″ LCD touchscreen and 13 megapixel CMOS sensor for crisp and vivid images.

Polaroid Snap Touch is available for pre-order at www.polaroidsnapcamera.com.

“As the original pioneers of instant photography, we at Polaroid have been dedicated to bringing products to market which fit our brand DNA of instant gratification, sharing, and fun throughout our history,” said Scott W Hardy, President and CEO of Polaroid.

Noting that the company is focused on designing products which meet the needs of modern consumers, Hardy said the new Snap Touch “boasts a fun and exciting design that’s unlike anything else on the market”.

Not just images, Snap Touch is also capable of 1080p full HD video recording. Additionally, the multimedia can be stored on a micro SD card, with capacity of up to 128 GB.

The high point is the gadget’s ability to capture and instantly print full-color photographs using the ZINK Zero Ink Printing Technology. The camera’s ZINK-enabled printer uses heat to activate and colorize cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals embedded in the 2×3” premium ZINK Paper. The ZINK Paper is compatible with the first generation Polaroid Snap and Polaroid Zip instant photoprinter.

According to Polaroid, the images print in just under a minute. That too without the need of ink cartridges, ribbons or toner. The best part? The ZINK Paper is adhesive backed so the photo can be used as a sticker as well. The ZINK Paper must be purchased separately. A 20-pack would cost $13.

For those less interested in printing, there is Bluetooth connectivity option paired with the Polaroid Print App to connect the Snap Touch with smartphones and tablets. Not just images saved on the instant camera, users can also take advantage of the iOS and Android apps to edit images saved on other devices and print same through the Polaroid Snap Touch.

The Polaroid Snap Touch was designed in partnership with renowned design firm, Ammunition. The instant camera carries a price tag of $180.
