OnePlus 5 lives up to the hype, fastest selling device for the company

Even as the excitement over OnePlus 5 continues, the company’s co-founder Carl Pei says, the device has already become the fastest selling, adding more hype to the flagship that will go on sale starting July 27.

“The first numbers are in, the OnePlus 5 is our fastest selling device ever!” Pei’s tweet on Tuesday read. The pop-up stores that opened in New York City also saw a beeline from fans and consumers alike. This was expected, thanks to the positive reports from press. Whether the device will be as successful as the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T is yet to be seen.

OnePlus 5’s design bears much resemblance to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, with a slim body and premium metallic build. Apparently, the smartphone is the thinnest OnePlus device at just 7.25mm. The base model is priced at $479. That is for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. You can get the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant for $539.

To recall the specifics, the OnePlus 5 sports a a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Optic AMOLED display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset and will run on Android 7.1.1. The ‘Oxygen OS’ features a Google Pixel-like app drawer and can be accessed from any window.

One of the important highlights undoubtedly rests with the sensors in the camera department. The OnePlus 5 sports a dual-camera set-up – 16MP and 20MP on the back. The 16MP camera has a bright aperture of f/1.7 and the 20MP one sports a f/2.6 aperture. For selfie lovers, there is a 16MP front camera as well.
