Nokia 8 rumour roundup: Snapdragon 835, two variants and June release

Nokia is keeping a fairly low-key presence nowadays, especially after they launched their entry and mid-range phones at the MWC recently. The Nokia 6 is doing well in China, but the Nokia 8 is now almost unheard of and the company is keeping everything under wraps as far as info goes. That has not stopped numerous rumors citing various tech specs and speculations. Here are the rumors so far, surrounding the Nokia 8 smartphone.

The Processor

People are almost certain that this phone will feature the Snapdragon 835. While whichever flagship is known to come with that chipset happens to cross paths with the Samsung Galaxy S8, it means that there will be a shortage of chips for manufacturers to currently add in their line-ups. The Nokia 8 seems to be no exception either.

Two Variants

Much like the current trend with flagships these days, the Nokia 8 might come with a 5.2-inch display variant as well as a 5.5-display variant that will go head to head with the biggest players in the market. It only seems fair, since this can cater to a broader aspect of users who like the convenience of small devices but also with capable hardware. The screens are said to be AMOLED displays with QHD resolutions.

Camera and Internals

The optics are rumored to be extremely impressive. Unlike the Nokia trend over the years, it seems that it will not come with Carl Zeiss lenses but should feature a 23MP camera on the rear. Apart from that, the memory support on the phone will be up to 4GB or 6GB of RAM along with IP68 certification. There is also talk of Daydream VR being one of the major elements that will be a part of the phone.

Pricing

The smaller variant is tipped to be priced at $579, while the larger variant will be priced at about $652. Considering that Nokia is known for being friendly on the pocket; with the features mentioned above, it seems like a far cry from being really that cheap, but we are crossing our fingers. Nevertheless, all of these details should be taken with a grain of salt as the company has not confirmed any of the features mentioned here.

The phone may launch sometime during June, after the hype around the Galaxy S8 is cleared. The phone is also rumored to come with 128GB and 256GB variants as well.
