Nokia 8 may launch soon, based on leak from official Chinese website

The Nokia 8 is set to be Nokia’s next entrant in the smartphone market. The device has been touted to be a true flagship-grade phone – a first from the company after having released mid-tier and basic phones this year.

According to reports, the phone was spotted on the company’s official website with an image of the phone that also may serve as a hint for the eventual release date, through the smartphone’s display on the image being shown. The image was shown on the official Chinese website of Nokia for a brief period of time the image was circulated on the social site Baidu. From the image, it can be seen that the phone has a Home button, a blue-colored body as well as bezels on the top and bottom. Nokia clearly isn’t looking to make bezel-less displays right now, being un-phased by what the competition is currently doling out.

The image was quickly taken down from the company’s website after sometime and is no longer present. Based on the speculation surrounding the image and of the contents of the image, speculations have risen, citing that the phone will be released on July 31. This will not be surprising since almost all of the phone’s specifications have been leaked, which include a Snapdragon 835 SoC, Android Nougat 7.1 as well as 5.3-inch QHD display. There may be 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM variants as well, with internal storage pegged at 64GB. It will feature a 24MP camera, hopefully by Carl-Zeiss, until confirmation arrives. One of the features that the phone will have an edge over its competition which rumored to be the massive battery at 3,999mAh unit.

There are chances the device could well be announced today going by the date mentioned on the ad. The phone is expected to be priced at around anywhere between 550 Euros to 600 Euros, which will be enough to rattle the current flagships which are all expensive devices. The second coming of Nokia will make for good spectator-sport as the current industry landscape has changed over the years. And whether a former King will get to relive its glory days once again, is something that will be interesting to see. HMD Global has so far made all the right moves for Nokia to ease into the spotlight once again and with the right package offered by the Nokia 8, it has the ability to break the mould and take that much coveted top spot. Only time will tell if Nokia will succeed.
