Nokia has been launching its phones in ascending order of late, but the company’s most recent rumored launch seems to be following the opposite. The phone in question the Nokia 2, which, according to its number and going by the pattern of Nokia’s devices, seems to be the company’s entry level budget smartphone based on Android.
There may be more handsets released alongside the Nokia 2, but the interest on the smartphone stems from the recent leaks of the device. The only hint that fans have been able to discern from those images is the date on the screen of the phone, which shows October 5. This could mean that HMD Global has planned to unveil the Nokia 2 then, which is closer to the launch of the new Google Pixel smartphones.
Another leak was revealed in the weekend, which showed a conversation between a fan and Nokia Myanmar. The conversation was about when the phone would launch in Myanmar, to which the company had officially stated that it would release in November in the country. That could mean that while the phone will be revealed by the company in October, it will not be officially available in countries until November.
This will be the first phone in the company’s line-up which will have on-screen buttons, unlike the rest of the releases by HMD Global which use capacitive keys. The phone will come with a 4.7-inch display, which is small for today’s standards.
The phone will have rounder corners compared to earlier phones in the line-up. It will also be the least spec’d phone in the line-up, coming with a display at a resolution of 720p and Qualcomm’s least powerful chip for smartphones, the Snapdragon 210. One of the better aspect of the phone will be its battery unit, rumored to be at a massive 4,000mAh. Unfortunately, the phone will probably not feature Quick Charge as the others have. The build is also expected to be composed of a poly-carbonate shell. For a 4G LTE smartphone, the Nokia 2 will be enough value in the sub $100 category, which is value for money, considering the quality that Nokia is now known for.
Going by what the company has promised so far, software updates will be swift and the user experience will be simple and smooth. While there has been no confirmation and only speculation regarding the launch of the phone, it is likely that it, along with the Nokia 9, will launch closely together, by the end of the year.
