M6 Note: The first Meizu phone to come with the Snapdragon 625 is official

While the world is clamouring over the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that is wowing reviewers with its top-tier list of specs, a lesser known manufacturer has released a phone that, while not as great as the Note 8, is still unconventional in its own right, with the Meizu M6 Note.

The phone comes in an all-metal design that is generic in form. On the inside, it is not as generic as other Meizu phones are known to be, being the only one from the company to bear a Snapdragon chipset on board; namely, the 625 SoC. It comes with dual cameras on the back and also has a front-mounted fingerprint sensor and home button. Qualcomm has had very little luck trying to have its chipsets implemented into Chinese devices, but with one of the nation’s largest smartphone manufacturers now adopting Qualcomm, fans are sure to notice.

Meizu M6 Note feature a 5.5-inch display with 1080p resolution. The dual camera setup consists of a primary Sony IMX362 12MP sensor coupled with a secondary 5MP sensor for creating depth effects in photos artificially. It is assisted with a 4-LED dual-tone flash for better low-light shots. Meizu promises that with its dual camera setup, images can be focused upon in as fast as 0.03 seconds. The front-facing camera is a 16MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0, perfect for wide-angel shots. The phone is other-wise a mid-range offering that is expected to be priced competitively in the market. The Snapdragon 625 is known for being not only powerful, but also for being battery-efficient.

The phone will come with either 3GB or 4GB RAM options and 16GB/32GB/64GB of internal storage options. The battery is a capable 4,000mAh unit and considering the phone’s Qualcomm connection, Meizu have skipped it in favour of the in-house mChargin tech that also offers fast charging times. Meizu have also launched a new Bluetooth headset alongside the phone called the EP52 which has a waterproof rating of IPX5. Unfortunately, the phone does not share the same water-proofing capabilities as its companion headset. The Meizu M6 Note will feature Android Nougat 7.1.2 Nougat with Flyme OS 6.0 and will go on sale with a starting price of $164 all the way up to $254. It will come in three colors – Gold, Blue and Black.
