The much-awaited LG V20 was finally unveiled today at San Francisco. The device is a successor to the LG V10.

The first to operate on Andoid 7.0 Nougat, LG V20 is a sturdy device with a lightweight aluminium body and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The 5.7 inch 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution Quantum IPS display is a treat for mobie buffs. It also features Multi-window to display two apps at once in a split screen

To achieve durability, LG uses lightweight aluminum, together with a new silicon-based material. The AL6013 metal, found in aircraft, sailboats and mountain bikes, was used to cover the back of the phone.

The device even passed the MIL-STD 810G Transit Drop Test for durability conducted by an independent laboratory that conforms to U.S. military standards.

For more details on the internals, the LG V20 comes with a 4GB of RAM and has 64GB storage with microSD expansion card slot. For longer life, there is a 3200 mAh removable battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

As for cameras, there is a dual rear 16 and 8 megapixel cameras and a front 5 megapixel camera. The Auto Shot Function on the front camera has a face detection function to capture perfect selfies.

A surprise element in V20 is that the device is the first to come with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC technology. Powered by ESS technology, the Quad DAC delivers clear sound by minimizing distortion and ambient noise by up to 50 percent.

“The LG V20 is designed to offer customers a more dynamic experience by building on the most popular video and audio features of the V series,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company. “With the LG V20, we are giving our customers more of everything they love and less of anything they don’t need to set a new standard for premium smartphones.”

Besides Hi-FI Quad DAC, other new features include Steady Record 2.0, HD Audio Recorder and Hi-Fi Video Recording. The Steady Record 2.0 records sharper video footage while neutralizing shaky images. The HD Audio Recorder feature lets users capture studio quality audio with a wider dynamic frequency range using three high AOP microphones. The Hi-Fi Video Recording records Hi-Fi videos and allows owners to manually control the settings for perfect audio quality.

LG V20 packs in a USB Type-C port and it will be available in titan, silver, and pink colours. The premium flagship smartphone will be available in Korea starting this month followed by other regions.
