Honor has just released the successor to its popular 6X smartphone with the arrival of the new 7X. The sub-brand of Huawei recently had images of its latest upcoming smartphone leaked on the internet. The company is keeping many of the great features which made the 6X popular, but it has also added a few new tricks to warrant a bump in its model number.
The phone will now feature a screen equipped with an 18:9 aspect ratio, which is a taller display compared to its out-going processor. The rear dual-camera sensor is still there and the bezels have been reduced a little. The phone will be available for a price tag between $250 for the 64GB variant and $300 for the 128GB variant.
While the phone is available only in China currently, it will be making its way to other countries over the next few months, with India being on the company’s radar. While pre-orders are currently underway, the phone will be on shelves starting October 17 in the company’s home country.
The display of the phone is measured at 5.93-inches with a resolution of 1080×2160, with 2.5D glass layered over it. Different from its predecessor, the 7X’s screen will now be taller but will still be as wide as the 6X’s 5.5-inch touchscreen. As far as the back of the device is concerned, the dual camera setup and the fingerprint reader is still there, unchanged from the previous iteration. The dual cameras feature an upgrade, now offering the combination of a 16MP main camera with a 2MP secondary camera and an 8MP front-facing camera.
As mentioned by Android Police in their report of the 7X, the device features the new Huawei-made Kirin 659 chipset. It is made of eight Cortex A53 cores grouped in separate clusters. The RAM is topped at 4GB and apart from 64GB and 128GB storage options, there is also the addition of a microSD card, courtesy of the hybrid dual SIM slot. The phone will come with Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box with EMUI 5.1. It comes with a 3,340mAh battery, but uses microUSB for charging. Fast-charging is also available.
The all-aluminium phone is a capable performer for the offering and should fit in well with the mid-range segment. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack on board. The phone will come in three colours – Aurora Blue, Black and Gold.
