Google Pixel 2: FCC filing suggests device will be built by HTC, will include squeezable features

Google’s much-awaited Pixel 2 was spotted on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website. While rumors continue to fly on the core specs, the FCC listing confirms two very crucial details.

FCC filing indicates squeezable features coming on Pixel 2

According to the FCC website documentation, the standard variant of the Pixel 2 will be indeed manufactured by HTC. Not just that, the device will also have a squeezable frame like the HTC U11.

The filing, first spotted by Android Police, shows Pixel 2 to support ‘Active Edge’ squeezable features that will let users do multiple functions like take a photo, switch the camera, change music and so on.

Screenshots of the smaller Pixel 2 also confirms that the device will run Android 8.0.1 and will include Google Assistant by default. The Pixel devices should be the first to run Android 8.0, giving Google an edge over its competitors.

Pixel 2 is rumored to come in two variants, the standard being a 4.97-inch display phone, while the other being a 5.99-inch OLED display phone. The Pixel XL 2 is likely to be manufactured by LG. There is no official confirmation on same.

When it launches the Pixel 2 will sport 4GB of RAM, apart from 64GB and 128GB of internal storage options. It will also be the first to run on Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon 836 chipset.

Reports suggest the Pixel devices will come sans headphone jack, but with front-facing stereo speakers. Google is working on bringing always-on functionality to the Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL as well.

Last year the Pixel and Pixel XL debuted in October. This year as well, the Pixel devices are expected to debut in October.
