Galaxy Note 8 to come in 64GB and 128GB variants, fingerprint sensor likely to shift below camera

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 8 will be a lot bigger than first expected, based on recent reports regarding the phone’s overall design and internal specifications.

Samsung is expected to release a new flagship this year – the Galaxy Note 8

One of the first signs of the changes came in the form of a CAD render that was shown in the form of a video and image. While the render may not be authentic or may also be subjective to change, another bit of information that has been floating around South Korea has been the internal storage capacity of the variants that will be offered by the company. The Galaxy Note 8 is said to come with 64GB and 128GB variants, with both coming with the added functionality of inserting a microSD card up to 256GB of storage capacity.

Another big change in phone that buyers will get to see from Samsung also comes in the form of the smartphone’s pricing where the phone will cost between $1,000 or $1,100 based on the market it is being sold in. The reason for this reports state has been due to the increasing price of components of the Galaxy Note 8 parts. Which exact components, however, has not been confirmed. The phone will be officially unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event on August 26, which will be on time to beat the new iPhone that will be making its way this year as well.

Tom’s Guide has also reported a leak that was seen from Olixar’s new line of cases for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 model. Based on the design, it seems that Samsung has not learned its lesson from the Galaxy S8 and will probably opt to keep the fingerprint on the right of the camera on the back instead of making it more accessible. The images provided by the case-making company also show that the new Note 8 will most likely come with a dual camera set-up on the back. Much like the S8, the Note 8 will feature a curved display up-front and looks to be measured on the higher side of 6-inches. The same report does suggest that there are rumors of Samsung shifting the fingerprint scanner below the camera rather than beside it, the only real evidence for whether the company will fix this flaw is at the Unboxed event, come August 26.

Historically, the Note line has followed most of its design from its corresponding S series of the same year and so the differences in design should be minimal at best.
