DirecTV Now is AT&T’s new video streaming service

AT&T will be launching a new video streaming service on Wednesday that starts at $35 a month.

Nearly two years after it acquired DirecTV, AT&T is introducing the DirecTV Now that will stream 60 to 120 channels. In addition to connected TV devices, you can stream the content on smartphones and tablets.

AT&T is making a foray into the crowded online video service market with the launch of DirecTV. Now.

At launch, DirecTV Now will be available on Amazon Fire TV, Android and iOS apps, Chromecast, and desktop web browsers. AT&T said it plans to add more devices including Roku streaming players and Roku TV models, Amazon Fire tablets, and Smart TVs from Samsung, next year.

The introductory offer provides 100 plus channels for the $35 price point. After the promotional period, the number of channels reduces to 60.

Besides the entry-level package, you have the Just Right package for $50 per month, the Go Big package for $60 per month and Gotta Have It for $70 per month. Those who pay for three months in advance get a free Apple TV. And if you prepay for a single month, you get an Amazon FireTV Stick.

AT&T joins several other players bringing live streaming channels to the web TV. The recent ones include Dish Network’s Sling TV and Sony’s PlayStation Vue. Sling’s basic bundle starts for $20 a month. Playstation Vue’s lowest package starts at $40 a month.

DirecTV Now will also compete against AT&T’s own U-Verse TV and DirecTV pay-TV services. There is a free 7-day trial for new subscribers who would like to try out the service. Meanwhile,  LeEco is also offering DirecTV Now service with the purchase of LeEco smartphones and TVs.
