Blackberry might bring a new phone featuring Snapdragon 625 SoC

Word on the block is that Blackberry might launch another brand new phone this fall. After pulling out of the smartphone market a few years ago, Blackberry is returning to the scene with a series of launches. As is known, the company has licensed its brand name to a China- based company TLC, which will now be responsible for manufacturing and selling Blackberry handsets.

Reports speculate that the new phone may feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with a full HD display. It may have 5.2 inch screen and 1920x 1080 pixel resolution display. There is very little information available regarding the specifications of this handset as neither Blackberry nor TLC has come forward and made any official announcements regarding the same.

What we do know is that a new Blackberry phone with the model number BBD100 has been making the rounds online. While it does reveal some specifications most of them are in the dark as of now. But a reasonable speculation will be the incorporation of the Google’s operating system. All Blackberry handsets will now be powered by Android rather than their own proprietary operating system. It will also integrate the iconic Blackberry keyboard as it is the company’s signature style.

A few users on Crackberry suggest that it could be the Blackberry Kryptos, a descendant of the Blackberry DTEK 50/60. Currently, there is no certainty regarding the information surrounding the handset,  as mentioned it is all speculation based on a single photograph. However, it will be exciting to see this come to its fruition.

The first creation of the partnership between BB and TLC was the Blackberry KEYone, a brilliant creation for those who still crave for the iconic BB keyboard and its lustrous design. In terms of quality and make of the product TLC achieved homogeneity; the make remained as close to BB’s older products. The design and functionality of the handset coupled with the price tag were just a cherry on the cake.
