Asus’s new convertible VivoBook Flip 14 comes with Kaby Lake Core m3 and a price tag of $550

Asus has just launched a new entry-level convertible laptop to the masses. The offering will offer a sleek design, decent power and practicality at an affordable price tag. Currently, the market is quite scarce of convertible offerings at affordable prices and Asus will be looking to fill in the gap with the new VivoBook Flip 14 TP01.

The laptop will go on sale for a price of $549 and will be powered by the Kaby Lake Intel Core m3 Y chip. For the specifications, the laptop comes with a 14-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1366×768. While most might be disappointed at the lack in high resolution displays, it would be needed keep the cost as low as possible. The end product is still an appealing offering nevertheless, as the display still offers wide viewing angles. The entire chassis of the device is also robust, boasting a premium aluminium construction, while still maintaining its 15.4mm thin profile.

According to reports, the laptop will come with 4GB of LPDDR3 memory and up to 128GB of eMMC storage. There is also one USB Type-C port and one MicroUSB 2.0 port, along with a micro-HDMI display out and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also a card reader in-built for expansion. As far as build is concerned, the hinge is capable of being rotated 360-degrees and can handle 20,000 open and close cycles, as claimed by Asus. The various modes supported by the hinges include notebook mode, tablet mode, tent mode as well as entertainment mode. The battery is also claimed by the company to last for at least a day,        but based on real-world usage, the number may vary.

One of the redeeming qualities of the new VivoBook Flip 14, in contributing to the promised day’s worth of battery is the m3 processor which is known to be battery sipping and efficient on devices. Asus also adds in high quality dual stereo speakers with Asus SonicMaster. The entire setup is currently available in the US via Amazon and other major retailers. Considering that the device has a touch sensitive screen, buyers can also choose to purchase the optional Asus Pen accessory which supports 1024 levels of pressure, perfect for light artistic pleasure and creativity.

For reasonable specifications and splendid construction, the new VivoBook Flip 14 is difficult to pass up, especially for regular usage and content consumption.
