The Mate 10 series is seeing its day in the sun with the launch of the first handset in the line-up – the Mate 10 Lite. Recent reports have already touted the Mate 10 Lite, the cheapest in the line-up, to boast impressive tech. Here are the phone’s top five features.
The display of the phone is an impressive 5.9-inch panel with a resolution of 2160×1080, which is slightly higher than regular 1080p panels and will be higher than even the Mate 10’s. What has intrigued fans of Huawei, is the aspect ratio of the phone, which will come at 18:9. It will also feature a 2.5D curved glass over the display. The screen will also cover 83% of the front portion of the phone, giving users more screen real-estate while still making its large screen easily-accessible.
If not the first, the Mate 10 Lite is one of the only phones to feature two dual-cameras on its body. At the back is a 16MP camera + 2MP camera setup and another pair of 13MP + 2MP cameras on the front. With the dual camera setups, users will be able to change the depth of field and leverage the advantage of combining both sensors’ details for better clarity compared to the competition.
Huawei have baked in the company’s own Kirin 659 processor into the phone, which is an octa-core 2.36GHz chip. Perhaps the most powerful chip on a mid-range smartphone, it is coupled with 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card. Powering the phone is a 3,340mAh battery unit as well. There is also hybrid dual-SIM support for the phone. Connectivity wise, the phone covers all the regular suspects including NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with GLONASS and 4G LTE.
The phone will be coming with Android Nougat 7.0 out of the box and as it is a Huawei phone, it will come with EMUI 5.1 on top. It is unclear as of yet, whether the phone will get the Android Oreo update, but considering that the phone does fall within the Mate 10 series and matches near-flagship specs, it seems likely that it will.
Pricing and Availability
For all the features that the phone offers, the Mate 10 Lite comes with an appealing price-tag of $365. While the phone will be available in China first, starting September 30, a global launch will make the phone an option worth considering over the dearth of mid-rangers on the market today.
